ASUR Announces a 18.4% Increase in Passenger Travel This September When Compared to Last Year
Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, S.A.B. de C.V. (NYSE: ASR; BMV: ASUR) announced this October that total passenger travel for the month of September 2011 saw a significant increase when compared to September 2010.
Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste is a Mexican airport operator that runs, maintains and develops the airports of Cancun, Merida, Cozumel, Villahermosa, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Huatulco, Tapachula and Minatitlan in the southeast of Mexico.
The Company is listed both on the Mexican Bolsa, where it trades under the symbol ASUR, and on the NYSE in the U.S., where it trades under the symbol ASR.
What does this increase mean?
More people are traveling both TO Mexico and WITHIN Mexico. Domestic Travel saw an increase of 25.6% from last year while International Travel increased by 11.4%. This is great news for those in the Travel industry, as business depend on these numbers staying high.
Where does Huatulco Lie
When it comes to Domestic Travel, Over 27,500 passengers flew to Huatulco this September an increase of 63% from last year.
As far as International Travel is concerned, 560 passengers flew to Huatulco last month, an increase of 45.5% from September 2010.
This lead to a total passenger traffic increase for Huatulco of 62.6%, not bad for our little hidden oasis.
