Sometimes planning a vacation out of town can be confusing. You are bound to have some questions. Check out the sections to the right for answers to many of the questions you will have about renting property in Hautulco.

Low season: Beginning of May to mid-November

High Season: Mid-November to end of April

Holiday periods: Weeks of Christmas and New Years and Easter/Semana Santa

Villas can be booked as early as a year in advance or as late as two weeks prior. The previous year's renters are always given priority to rebook for the same dates. Villa availability is shown on the property profile page according to the data sent over by the owners or property managers - as such new availability may come up regularly as owners schedules change. We are also constantly adding new villas and condos to the site, so continue to check back with the site if you don't find the right villa when you first visit.
On each property profile page you will see a BOOKING tab. By clicking on that tab, you will find a reservation form that you can use to put a temporary hold on your property. Upon receiving this form, My Huatulco Vacation will place a 48 hour courtesy hold on the property (once availability has been verified) and will follow-up by phone and email to complete the reservation with you. During this process, we will provide you with a detailed breakdown of costs, taxes, and optional vacation add-ons (such as airport transportation, spa services, pantry stocking, etc.). The final step will be an emailed Booking Form which you will be required to complete and fax back to complete the reservation.
The on-line booking calendar is regularly updated but availability changes rapidly, especially during high season. For that reason, we will confirm availability with you once we receive your reservation form or when you call in to reserve your property. Cottage availability that is marked unavailable either indicates that the property has already been reserved for the dates in question or that the owners have yet to determine the availability calendar. We encourage you to check back regularly for availability updates.
None of our properties have minimum or maximum booking durations. All properties can be booked on a nightly basis or longer. Please note - longer bookings are often privileged with reduced weekly rates. Inquire directly for more details.
All rental rates are quoted in US Dollars. Payment is in US Funds only. The initial reservation deposit is due by credit card within 72 hours of the time we put the property on hold for you. The total cost will be detailed out for you in your emailed booking form and will accommodation costs, taxes (if applicable), agency service charge ($97.00), and any other optional services that have been requested by you in the reservation process.
The initial deposit of 50% will be charged to your credit card upon receipt of your faxed booking approval form. The remaining 50% may be paid by credit card, money order or bank transfer six weeks prior to occupancy. All bookings made less than 6 weeks in advance of occupancy must be paid in full by credit card or bank transfer upon confirmation.
Travel insurance gives travelers coverage for unforeseen problems, from a cancelled flight to a serious illness—or in rare cases, even an act of terrorism or the financial default of a travel supplier. If an illness, accident, or other covered unforeseen circumstance forces a traveler to cancel or interrupt their plans, they face two major financial losses—money invested in nonrefundable pre-payments, and medical expenses that in many instances may not be covered by health insurance.
If you choose not to take third party insurance, our cancellation policy will take effect. In the event of a cancellation, we always try to rebook the property on your behalf. If we are successful in doing so, we will extend a refund to you minus our cancellation administrative fee. If we are unable to rebook, any payments received will be forfeited to My Huatulco Vacation.

The security deposit amount varies for each property (see property profile for details). This deposit is taken to guarantee that the property is left in the same condition as found upon arrival. The property manager will tour the property prior to departure to ensure there is no damage. Any damage noted will be signed off on with you so you are clearly aware of any issues. Renters are also expected to use telephone cards for any long distance phone calls. Any calls charged to the property will result in a processing fee plus reimbursement to the owner.

The security deposit is provided to My Huatulco Vacation through a credit card approval form at the time you complete your booking form. This amount is NOT held against your credit card and will not be charged unless a claim is made against you by the owner or property manager.

Once we have received your booking form and have processed your deposit, a booking confirmation package will be mailed out to you. This package will include:

  • Confirmed dates of property occupancy
  • Relevant property information
  • Local contacts available to you during your stay
  • Scheduled maid service
  • Confirmation of additional booked services
  • Detailed information on how to get to the property (map + written description)

We encourage you to keep this package in a safe spot as it is the only one that will be sent out.

Most properties have a property manager who will provide access to the property upon your arrival. This person will provide you with a set of keys for your stay and will answer any questions you have about the property. In some cases, these individuals do not speak fluent English and therefore are limited in what they can discuss with you. In these situations, we will ensure that there is contact information for the owner so you can address any issues with them directly by phone.

Most of our "high season" i.e. winter bookings, start and end on Saturdays - to allow the owner to check the property between bookings and also due to the charter schedule.

Generally, the check in time is 2:00 pm and the check out time is 11:00 am. But please check your booking confirmation - some properties have different times. The owners require that time between bookings to do the security check and to provision the property for the next renters.

A cleaning service is provided at all of our properties.

All property descriptions include a detailed list of the amenities available at each property. In most cases all essentials are included (linens, towels, drinking water, etc.) but the provision of shampoo and soap, etc. varies from property to property – make sure you verify details on the property profile.

Please do not assume that a property is pet free just because the property is restricted re: pets and smokers. Some owners have pets (or are smokers) but still restrict renters from bringing pets. If you have allergies, please check the Property Information Sheet - and ask us to confirm for you.

If the property owner allows pets, this will be noted in the property profile. If the profile states no pets, this must be respected. Some owners have allergies and/or are concerned about damages, neighbours, etc. If pets are permitted, this means one pet maximum. If you have more than one pet, please ensure this is discussed prior to arrival. If the property states no pets, you will be charged a mandatory $350 cleaning fee and will be expected to reimburse the owner for any damage that has been done to the property as a result of your pet.

For many renters, entertaining or having guests is part of the overall vacation plan. If you anticipate that you will be accommodating extra guests, please ensure the property you have rented has a maximum occupancy rate that fits your party size.

The maximum occupancy details are clearly stated on the property profile and will be included in your booking package. Please see terms and conditions for our policy on exceeding this maximum number of guests.

Cell service is available throughout Huatulco – check with your service provider for rates.

Each of our properties varies in internet accessibility. Some properties offer full and unlimited internet access while other have pay per usage access. You can refer to the property profile for details on the specifics.

Renters are held responsible for all long distance charges made from the property during their stay. If a telephone is provided for you, it can be used for local calls but we ask that you use a calling card for any long distance connections. You can either purchase a calling card prior to departure or you will be able to purchase one in Cruceccita upon arrival. If there are long distance charges billed to the owner's telephone bill, these will be charged to your credit card in addition to a $30 administrative charge (this will be processed upon us receiving a copy of the phone bill from the owner).

First, check with us. We will probably have the necessary information on file for marina/rental facilities in the area of one of our properties.

Most properties include stocked purified water. However, you should plan on provisioning for this for the duration of your stay. One of the services offered by My Huatulco Vacation is property provisioning/pantry stocking prior to arrival plus a re-stock once during your visit. This provisioning can include bottled water. Under no circumstances should you drink water directly from the taps. We would even encourage you to use purified water for brushing your teeth and washing your fruits and vegetables.

The reality is that with any property there are neighbours and/or can be unexpected construction projects nearby. Unfortunately, there is very little we can do to predict or control this factor. If you are having excessive issues during your stay for any reason, we would encourage you to communicate with either the property owner or local property manager to assist you in resolving the situation. Please refer to our Booking Terms & Conditions for further details.

Check the Property Description for details as to whether Satellite is provided. Most properties have a television and dvd.

Most of the populated bays and beaches in huatulco are protected and fairly safe. Be aware of potential riptides and the fact that ocean conditions change rapidly. The safest beach for young children is Playa Entrega.
